Learning words should be as easy as scrolling.
velzo is a free way to pick up vocabulary in another language. No signup, no streaks, no paywall. Open it, swipe, learn a word. That’s the whole app — on purpose.
Most language apps ask for your email before they teach you anything, then guilt you with reminders. We think the first minute matters more than the hundredth day: if seeing a new word is as effortless as scrolling a feed, you’ll come back because you want to.
How velzo works
- Pick your languagesChoose the language you want to learn and the one you already speak. That’s the only setup there is.
- Swipe the feedEach card is one word, a real example sentence, and an illustration that makes it stick.
- Tap to revealGuess first, then tap to see the translation — or switch on “always reveal” if you’d rather read than quiz.
Why Georgian first?
Big languages have a thousand apps. Georgian — spoken by about four million people, with its own beautiful alphabet and the word ვაშლი for “apple” — has almost none. Learners searching for something as simple as “apple in Georgian” mostly find dictionaries from another decade.
We started with English ↔ Georgian because under-served language pairs deserve modern tools too, and because doing one pair really well teaches us how to do the next ones right. More pairs are on the way.
Our quality promise
We’re honest about how the sausage is made: velzo’s cards are drafted with AI. That’s what lets a small team cover thousands of words. But nothing goes live on autopilot — every card is cross-checked against independent machine translation, and reviewed by a human before it’s published. For our launch pair, English ↔ Georgian, that means every single card.
Mistakes can still slip through. When they do, we want to know: report a mistake and we’ll fix it at the source, for everyone.
